Location
House of Crocodiles, Siem Reap

Photographed at the House of Crocodiles, a family-run farm on the edge of Siem Reap town, founded in 1983. It breeds Siamese crocodiles and sells the young to other licensed farms; it says it was registered with CITES in 1999.

In the wild the species is critically endangered. Surveys between 2000 and 2014 put Cambodia’s wild population at 200 to 400, most of them in the Cardamom Mountains. Far more live on farms, where many have been crossed with the larger saltwater crocodile.
