How to find it

Along a forest track just east of the road between Angkor Wat and the South Gate of Angkor Thom. Easy on foot, by bicycle or by motorbike. It is inside the Angkor park, so you need an Angkor pass.

Go early: in the morning the low sun comes through the trees in shafts.

Field notes

Two small brick towers stood here, in the forest between the moats of Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom. The north tower has fallen to a mound of brick. The south tower still stands on its high platform, reached by steps, its brick walls rising from deep moulded courses now thick with moss.

Its lintel shows the god Indra riding his three-headed elephant, Airavata.

Few people come, though it is only a few minutes from two of the busiest roads at Angkor. Stingless bees nest in the old stones.
